Counseling and Clouds: Creating a Space for Emotional Safety

Updated: Aug 26
When thinking of a name for this practice, it first became apparent to me that it's hard to choose a name for a therapy practice. It got real existential, real quick (not that there's anything wrong with existential!). But more importantly, I quickly realized how important it was to me to find a name that conveys openness, possibility, and collaboration. Because those are the values I hold dear as I hold space for clients: while I also provide structure, education, and strategies, more than anything I want this to be a space and time where a client's experience and emotional safety are centered, where each client has the opportunity to be an active part in making this space and time their own, to feel safe to be seen and heard and responded to.
Each and every one of us deserves a space where it's safe for our nervous systems to unravel, so we can explore what it means to be ourselves, to make updates to old beliefs, grow, change, question, expand, identify what is is important to us at this specific time in our life, and edit and adjust as needed. At Sessions Counseling, the session is the container for self-understanding, and together we decide how to fill it.
And why did clouds become the symbol of the practice? Because they're cute! And inspire awe and wonder! And they embrace change! Pink, moody, ominous, bright, fluffy, there's no one way to be a cloud!
